PAGE DOWN FOR NOV - JAN HAPPENINGS,   including Homeless Memorial Day,    December 21.

SPECIAL THANKS go out to all of those who volunteered during the Thanksgiving week-end -- those that "minded the store" during that time,   and those who brought the food that provided a bountiful Thanksgiving to all coming into the Welcome Mat.

THANKS to Community Action's Health Care for the Homeless CrossRoads Clinic for providing a flu shot clinic at the Welcome Mat on November 16.    It was a successful clinic providing protection against the flu to many who camp out.

STILL NEEDED FOR CHRISTMAS -- special holiday foods,  and new items (flannel shirts,  knit hats,  white socks,  gloves,  sweaters,  etc.) to be used as gifts for our clients.  There are still several openings for volunteers to keep the Welcome Mat open during the Christmas week-end.    For more information contact   307-634-8499.

Volunteers are also needed in the Welcome Mat on January 1,  2007.   The main duty that day will making sure that everyone has some special food,  and that the football games are on!!   Special foods are also needed.

The WCH Richards Center property has been rezoned from Light Industrial to Multi-use business,  allowing WCH to start work on the addition of a Day Care Center for homeless children.  An architecht has been hired and is working on the actual plans for the kitchen and children's bathrooms for the Day Care,  and the Site Plan has been sent to the City and results should be available soon indicating what additional work needs to be done.  Grants have provided for revamping of the sprinkler system,&nsp; some of the electrical system,  plumbing and alarms.  Actual construction on the day care should begin after the 1st of the year,  and after a contractor is chosen from submitted bids.

CLASSES AT THE RICHARDS CENTER began,  in November,   with "how to do a resume, and job interview."  Other classes will begin December 4,  2006.  There will be living and job skills classes,  art and music,  computers and sewing.   THE COMPUTER LAB has been set up and is ready for use.   THE ART FROM THE STREETS GALLERY AND STUDIO is now open at the Richards Center.   Art work is also on display in the office of the main building at 907 Logan Avenue.  Much of this work is for sale by the artists,  and there is also art donated by Gary Crook that is for sale as a fundraiser for the Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless.   The Richards Center CONFERENCE ROOM is available to agencies serving the homeless for meetings and conferences.   For more information contact 307-634-8499.
